Overview

FoRx is developing a new generation of drugs that inhibit novel DNA repair pathways, such as Break Induced Replication (BIR), to exploit cancer-specific vulnerabilities via synthetic lethality. The company’s scientific foundation is based on work by Professor Thanos Halazonetis from the University of Geneva, who discovered these repair pathways that help cancer cells overcome replication stress. FoRx’s validated BIR targets have shown potential for both therapy and maintenance treatment in preclinical knock-out models. The company was established in October 2019 in Basel and is backed by a syndicate of life‑science investors. The recent seed financing provides initial capital to advance its preclinical programs and further validate its therapeutic approach. Management changes accompanying the round include a new executive chairman and an interim CEO supporting the company’s early development.
