Overview
Fracción was founded in 2018 by Javier Vega and José Manuel Moller to sell fractioned medications, later evolving into a digital pharmacy with some physical branches. Its core offering is selling medications in fractional doses to let customers "buy and pay the right amount," complemented by physical 30 m2 modules installed near clinics. The company runs the social initiative Comunas Sin Farmacias (launched 2020), aiming to reach 50 communes by 2026; this semester it completed the first 10 (six operating, four in final stages). Fracción works with Tecno Fast to deploy modular pharmacy units and has measured social impact with universities, finding a high social return (reported as 4 pesos staying in the community per peso invested). Operationally, the startup reports more than 35,000 customers over six years and closed 2023 with about 2 billion pesos in revenue. Future plans include developing a user app, expanding into veterinary, dental, cosmetics and natural products, launching a monthly medication-delivery subscription, entering complementary insurance, and creating a foundation to scale Comunas Sin Farmacias. Fracción is an impact start-up dedicated to the fractionation of medicines, allowing customers to purchase medications in specific doses at fair prices. It operates as a 100% online platform and has partnered with independent pharmacies to distribute fractionated doses. The platform enables smaller, dose-specific purchases through its pharmacy partnerships. In its most recent financing, Manutara Ventures, through its Founders Fund, led a US$5 million investment that closed on 30 November. The Founders Fund is Manutara’s second fund and focuses on blockchain technologies, SaaS, biotech, healthtech, wellness, and foodtech. Carey represented Manutara Ventures in the transaction while Prieto Abogados acted as advisor to Fracción.
