It manages registry operations for .TK (Tokelau), .GA (Gabon), .CF (Central African Republic) and .ML (Mali) and runs an AnyCast DNS cloud and registration system. With more than 20 million active domain names, Freenom manages the largest domain portfolio after .COM. Its primary revenue comes from monetizing expired domains and selling residual traffic to advertising networks, and the company plans to offer white‑label services (hosting, SSL certificates, etc.) starting January 2014. Freenom stresses safety via a global network of over 50 trusted partners (including Facebook and Twitter) that can take down domains allegedly involved in abuse.
