Founded in 2023 by Joel Uussaari and Aleksi Kaistinen, Freepress uses an AI “virtual news editor” to analyse hundreds of thousands of publicly available and licensed articles from multiple countries and generate key information in the user’s language. The consumer-facing product delivers real-time notifications on selected topics and allows users to follow international news without manual searching. Freepress offers its AI-generated summaries free of charge and complements them with full-length articles from partner publishers, sharing up to 50 % of its revenue from both consumer and business users with those publishers. To grow its audience, the company plans to add new languages and enter additional markets through collaborations with local publishers. Future roadmap items include business-oriented tools for content use, media monitoring, and market-behaviour forecasting. The company has not disclosed revenue or user metrics but is financing these initiatives with newly raised seed capital. Although founded in 2023, the service is reported to have launched in Finland in autumn 2025 according to the company’s announcement.
