Hemingwrite is a hardware startup building a mechanical typing device with a digital e-ink display and cloud-based document storage and syncing. The device pairs a retro, portable-typewriter heft with a minimalist, distraction-free interface and physical navigation switches. A fully functional prototype was demonstrated at CES 2015 and impressed reviewers with its industrial design. The product aims to combine tactile mechanical typing with modern cloud convenience, reducing reliance on paper and corrective tape. Hemingwrite ran a Kickstarter campaign to fund production and, as of the article, had surpassed its goal and was on track to meet shipping targets.
