Fresco News operates an app where users can browse breaking news and accept paid assignments to contribute photos and video to professional news organizations. Contributors receive compensation and credit when they fulfill assignments created by newsrooms. The company has been expanding its newsroom tools and folded more assignment capabilities into a revamped iPhone app launched earlier this month. News organizations already using Fresco's tools include The Associated Press, Media General, Calkins Media and dozens of smaller outlets. Financially, Fresco completed a $1.2 million seed financing.
