Overview

Freshokartz is an agri-tech social commerce platform and comprehensive agricultural services provider serving farmers in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring states. The company has launched a social commerce super app designed for Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) to create entrepreneurship opportunities for micro-Agripreneurs. Through the Freshokartz Saarthi program, VLEs act as intermediaries for customer acquisition, product and service awareness, and order placement via the Saarthi mobile application. The platform offers a wide range of services including agri inputs, financial products, agri equipment, tractors, insurance, market linkages, crop advisory, soil testing, cattle feed and related services. Freshokartz currently collaborates with more than 15,000 VLEs, connects with over 500,000 farmers, and works with over 50 partners; VLEs reportedly earn an average monthly income of 5,000–15,000 INR with upside to 25,000 INR. The company aims to onboard more than 100,000 VLEs to serve over 1 million farmers by March 31, 2024 and has a longer-term vision to collaborate with over 500,000 VLEs in the next 4–5 years. Management describes initial traction as phenomenal, notes 2–3x month-on-month growth in VLEs and farmers, and lists partnerships with UPL, BASF, Axis Bank, ICICI Lombard, JCB and others. Freshokartz provides a technology-enabled full stack of services to small and marginal farmers, including agricultural inputs, soil-based crop and fertiliser recommendations via agronomists and call centres, crop advisory, output linkages, crop insurance and financing. The company has digitalised physical agri kiosks at the village level and runs a mobile app where farmers can place orders from nearby centres; it also collects farmer output through centres or doorsteps. Freshokartz currently operates 40 physical centres in Rajasthan and works with more than 90,000 farmers, and it partners with over 100 agri-input companies including UPL and Chambal Fertilizers. The business is built bottom-up by a team with farming backgrounds and is developing a hybrid pre- and post-harvest service model. The company plans to use new funding for capacity building, technology development and geographic expansion within Rajasthan and into nearby states such as Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Founded in 2016, Freshokartz targets reaching 1 million farmers within the next 12–15 months.
