FreshPlanet launched with Red Fish, an educational iPad game for children aged 3–7 that it licensed from the French website Poisson Rouge and adapted for the iPad. The free app includes 12 activities out of a total 50, with the remaining content unlockable for $9.99; there is no iPhone version at launch. The studio is run by French brothers and serial entrepreneurs Mathieu and Romain Nouzareth, who previously founded Boonty and Cafe.com. FreshPlanet is also testing a music quiz game on Facebook and plans to design games for Facebook, the iPad, and the iPhone. Financially, the company recently completed a $1.5 million Series A led by Jeff Clavier’s SofTech VC with participation from French angel investors. The company is based in New York City.
