Frontleaf is a web-based analytics startup that helps software vendors identify which end users to focus on to maximize retention. Its product installs a beacon in customers' software to observe end-user behavior and integrates data from CRM systems like Salesforce and support tools like Zendesk. It generates real-time activity news feeds, dashboards, and user segmentation to surface at-risk users. Frontleaf began last spring and is based in Oakland, Calif.; Tom Krackeler is CEO and cofounder alongside Karl Goldstein and Rachel English. During private beta, 10 companies participated and five converted to paying customers, including Salsa Labs. Frontleaf sells annual contracts and plans to add features that surface more up-to-date drivers of churn while keeping human input in the workflow to differentiate from Totango and Gainsight.
