Frost Giant Studios was formed by Blizzard veterans Tim Morten and Tim Campbell to build a new PC real-time strategy (RTS) game. The Irvine, California-based team started earlier this year and currently comprises eight employees and four contractors. The studio plans to lower the barrier to entry for RTS through improved cooperative, campaign, and competitive gameplay, empowering user-generated content, and applying machine learning/AI for features like automated coaching. Frost Giant will build a gameplay prototype, conduct consumer research, expand operations, and grow the team while remaining relatively small. The company is focused primarily on the PC platform and intends to hire only a couple people in the next year as it develops the project.
