Overview

Fulcrum BioEnergy develops, owns and operates facilities that convert municipal solid waste and other waste products into low-cost, low-carbon transportation fuel and renewable electricity. The company is building the Sierra BioFuels Plant, a $120M commercial-scale facility designed to convert household garbage into ethanol, renewable electricity and other chemical products. A portion of the $75M Series C proceeds will fund construction of the Sierra BioFuels Plant. When complete in late 2012, the plant will have capacity to convert post-sorted MSW into ethanol, renewable electricity and propanol. The project is intended to provide the Reno market with an environmentally clean source of transportation fuel. The company is led by President and CEO E. James Macias and is based in Pleasanton, California.
