Overview

FullStory provides a digital experience intelligence platform that collects and structures user behavior data and applies AI to surface insights across web and mobile. The platform tracks signals such as highlights, scroll depth, pinch-to-zoom frequency and copy-and-paste, reconstructing user journeys with vector-based graphics and searching for correlated "friction events." Saved reports and automated alerts surface anomalies (for example, clicks that lead nowhere due to a JavaScript blip) to inform product analytics, UX research and conversion optimization. FullStory serves more than 3,200 customers, including Groupon, Automattic, Peloton, Fidelity and JetBlue, and says it analyzed over 15 billion user sessions (and nearly 1 trillion clicks, highlights and scrolls) in 2021. The company reported more than a 70% year-over-year increase in annual recurring revenue in 2021 and more than doubled headcount to over 500 employees with teams in Atlanta, San Francisco, London, Sydney and Singapore. Management said it took additional capital to grow the business globally and cement its leadership position in the digital experience space. FullStory builds a digital experience analytics platform that uses machine learning to analyze clicks, navigations, scrolls and other interaction signals to surface UX failures and suggest fixes. The company captures behavioral data (with consent) and packages insights into data streams for visualization and downstream tools. It trademarks the term “Rage Clicks” and says it does not use eye tracking or sentiment analysis on user-entered content. FullStory reports about 3,100 paying customers across retail, SaaS, finance and travel, expects more than 15 billion user sessions this year (about 1 trillion interactions), and says ARR has grown more than 70% year-over-year. The product does not perform direct remediation but provides actionable suggestions and integrations; FullStory claims greater web presence than its three largest competitors combined. The company plans to invest in R&D for more real-time intelligence and to expand more aggressively into Europe and Asia Pacific. FullStory provides a digital intelligence platform that helps product management, software development, marketing, and customer support teams understand and transform customer experiences online. Founded in 2014 by Scott Voigt and former Google engineers, the Atlanta-based company serves consumer brands and SaaS companies globally. Its core product is a digital experience analytics platform used across teams to analyze and improve online interactions. The company intends to use recent funding to continue scaling sales and marketing and to evolve its platform into an engine for digital intelligence. As of April 2019, FullStory has raised a total of $57M. FullStory provides DVR-style session replay that lets businesses watch customers’ moves on their website. The platform records console errors—integrating with BugSnag—and includes an in-playback note-taking feature for team collaboration. It has added click heuristics to detect “rage clicks” and said more updates are coming. FullStory announced it will use the new funding for marketing expansion and to enhance its system. The company was cofounded by Google engineer Joel Webber and is led by CEO Scott Voigt. Since its 2014 founding, FullStory has raised $10.6 million in total. FullStory provides a script that records user interactions—mouse movement, clicks, page transitions—and offers session playback so support teams can see exactly how users experience a product. The script begins recording once users are logged in, and users can exclude themselves from tracking; customers must adhere to an acceptable use policy. The playback URLs let support identify bugs and share exact sessions with engineering, allowing engagement before responding to customers. FullStory emerged from private beta and opened its product to broader use, reporting a few dozen paying customers at the time of the article. The company faces competition from SessionCam, Watchsend, and Lookback, which offer similar session- and screen-recording capabilities. Founders Scott Voigt (CEO), Bruce Johnson, and Joel Webber are former Googlers with a prior exit (Innuvo sold to Google in 2005).
