Functionly

1000 Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA, 94109, United States

Overview

Functionly provides a platform that helps organisations continuously design and improve their strategy, structure and workforce using org-design patterns developed with academics, expert designers and experienced leaders. The company was founded in 2018 by Tim Brewer and Damian Bramanis and consists of a global team that has worked with Dropbox, Teamline, Auth0, Yammer and HealthEngine. In 2020 the team won a $598K Accelerating Commercialisation grant from the federal government. With Covid-19 tailwinds Functionly saw thousands of trials across the USA, UK and Australia, with hundreds converting to customers. The company has launched a free version of Functionly to broaden access for leaders seeking solutions. The business plans to use new capital to further develop the product and hire key talent as it scales. Functionly builds a drag-and-drop, predictive organisational-design tool that lets companies run scenarios, plan resourcing changes, and place people into functional roles that fit skills and growth trajectories. The product is positioned to replace expensive consultant-led organisational design by making scenario planning faster and more accessible. Co-founded by Tim Brewer and Damian Bramanis, Functionly has run paid trials in the USA, UK, Egypt and Australia with customers including HappyCo, ServiceRocket and HealthEngine; Curtin University is involved in research trials. The company says demand accelerated during COVID-19 as organisations urgently needed to redesign work and resourcing. Functionly recently received a $598K federal Accelerating Commercialisation grant alongside matching private investment, bringing its pre-seed funding to $1.4M. The team will use the funds to accelerate beta development, complete customer trials internationally, and target a full commercial rollout into 2021.
