Future Greens

308 Beeley, 23 Acorn Street, Sheffield, S3 8FD, United Kingdom

Overview

Founded in 2022 by University of Sheffield graduates, Future Greens engineers compact, AI-optimised anaerobic digesters that turn unavoidable brewery and food-production waste into biogas for heat and electricity. The technology is marketed as operating ten times faster than conventional anaerobic digestion, enabling on-site deployment that lowers trade-effluent charges, waste-disposal costs and carbon emissions. Initial commercial focus is on breweries, where spent grain, yeast and wastewater offer a clear feedstock, and the first full-scale system is slated for installation in 2026. The company has raised more than €912k (£800k) in dilutive capital since inception and has also secured €114k (£100k) in non-dilutive research support from the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and the South Yorkshire Innovation Programme. Recent financing will be used to expand the engineering team and accelerate deliveries for customers already in the sales pipeline. Future Greens positions itself within the growing European waste-to-energy segment, targeting operational cost savings and resilience for food and beverage producers.
