FYR Medical

5049 Edwards Ranch Road, 4th Floor, Fort Worth, Texas, 76109, United States

Overview

FYR Medical is commercializing light field electro-optical technology to create extended reality (XR) digital loupes. The loupes use "emulated transparency" light field technology originally invented by Lockheed Martin to reduce eye strain and remain viewable in bright operating-room lighting. The device is extremely lightweight with a minimalized form factor designed to replicate surgical loupes while delivering lifelike augmented imagery and true depth perception. FYR's XR loupes will integrate with CT, MRI, X-ray, simulations, and navigation systems to display navigation images and patient vitals virtually above the surgical site. The company will first target spinal surgery via existing enabling technology platforms and anticipates broader applications across other operating rooms, training sites, and telemedicine. FYR plans a commercial launch in the second half of 2023 and has raised $2.6M in Series A funding to complete product development.
