Gaia Tech is an ETH Zurich spin-off developing a proprietary extraction technology to valorize agro-food sidestreams, primarily olive sidestreams, into bio-compounds and added-value ingredients. Its modular, scalable solution targets replacement of synthetic compounds used in the cosmetic and food industries. The startup has received market validation, with an ingredients provider's head of biological evaluation calling it "the best antioxidant technology we tested so far." Gaia Tech won the De Vigier Award and a CHF 100,000 prize, underscoring industry recognition for its environmental friendliness and efficiency. The company closed a pre-seed round of CHF 480,000 to start pilot production and enter the cosmetic ingredients market. It has changed its legal structure from a GmbH to an AG and plans to establish pilots with leading industry partners to further validate the solution with customers.
