Overview
gamesGRABR, operated by TeePee Games and founded by serial gaming entrepreneur Tony Pearce, is a Pinterest-style pinboard that lets gamers curate collections of games and gaming-related content via a browser 'GRAB' button and browse other users' boards. The platform launched its beta in April 2014 and is U.K.-based, currently reporting upwards of 100,000 unique users per month with a 50% month-on-month return rate and a roughly 50:50 split between U.K. and U.S. users. It monetizes primarily through affiliate revenue with retailers including Apple, Amazon and Game, plus ecommerce partnerships with Sony Genba, Codemasters, Warner Brothers and Capcom, and has begun selling PC Steam games directly via its own ecommerce service. The company is also building an ad exchange to match ads using advertisers' data combined with its own profile data. Product plans include a gamification system to reward users when others play or buy from their collections, a native mobile app, and marketplace features to enable users to sell second-hand games. Management aims to hit 1M monthly active users this year, break even in 2016, and pursue a Series A in 2016.
