Garantia Data provides a managed service (Redis Cloud) for deploying and scaling Redis, wrapping standard open-source Redis with its Dynamic Clustering technology. Its service runs on AWS and Windows Azure and is designed to auto-scale by adding memory based on dataset size rather than adding nodes or clusters. Features highlighted include auto-failover, cross-zone replication, efficient data persistence and backup, and automated operations. The company positioned its product as overcoming open-source Redis scale-out limitations and simplifying sharding and operations for customers. Garantia considered rebranding to RedisDB but abandoned the move after Redis project founder Salvatore Sanfilippo expressed concerns about confusion with the Redis forum. It is preparing for AWS re:Invent while competing directly with large providers such as AWS (ElastiCache) and Pivotal. Garantia Data offers fully automated, in-memory NoSQL cloud services that host Redis and Memcached datasets with no management required, handling nodes, clusters, scaling, persistence and failure recovery. The company guarantees absolutely no data loss and targets developers building ultra-fast in-memory data stores. Garantia launched its beta at GigaOm’s Structure LaunchPad in June 2012 and is offering services free to early adopters during the beta phase. Leadership says the company will use new funding to meet growing demand and expand its product offering. The startup was accepted into the AWS Partner Network and named a Standard Technology Partner, a recognition it cites as validation for its AWS-focused Redis and Memcached solutions. Founded in 2011, the company is privately held and backed by a group of angel investors.
