Overview
GATE Technologies builds market infrastructure and automated, customizable solutions for qualified investors to buy and sell illiquid and alternative assets. Its platform offers content and analytics, transparent execution, and dematerialized settlement, clearing, and depository functions. The company recently launched a U.S.-based broker-dealer subsidiary, GATE US, and GATE Global Impact to support impact investing. Led by CEO Vincent Molinari, GATE plans to expand its market infrastructure and roll out additional GATE Developing Marketplaces (GDMs) in 2011. It closed a $3.5m funding round that will be used to fund these expansion plans. The round was led by venture capitalist John Pappajohn, who will join the company's executive board. GATE Technologies is an innovative financial-technology firm creating new market infrastructure for unstructured global alternative asset markets. Its impact-focused subsidiary, GATE Global Impact, launched in late 2010 to provide market infrastructure and related services for impact investing. The company’s GATEWAY platform offers research, analytics, trading, settlement, clearing and reporting functions for socially and environmentally responsible investments. GATE describes GATEWAY as a flexible, multiple-window, secure and encrypted system that meets or exceeds regulatory standards. The pilot phase uses Prudential’s social impact portfolio and the platform is planned to be expanded broadly for institutional investment managers later this quarter. Leadership on GATE Global Impact’s board includes co-founder and CEO Vincent Molinari, Jeanne Murtaugh (vice chairman), William J. Davis III (president, U.S. operations), and Lori Livingston.
