Overview
Gayam Motor Works (GMW) is a pioneer in India’s electric mobility space and the largest exporter of electric three‑wheelers from India, with presence in the UK, France, Portugal, Japan, Uganda, Nepal and Bangladesh. Its core products are SmartAuto models — SmartAuto Taskman (pickup) and SmartAuto UrbanET (passenger) — and the SmartAuto is the first Indian e‑3W to be European certified and to feature a modular battery swapping system. GMW supplies enterprise customers including IKEA, Amazon, Uber, Flipkart (Walmart), Sokowatch, Grofers, BigBasket and Delhivery, and has built battery swapping and charging networks at customer warehouses and distribution centers. The company is preparing to go public in the coming months and has secured a US$50 million investment commitment from GEM Global Yield that will be available on the first day of trading or drawn in tranches over three years. Management says global automakers are exploring technology partnerships with GMW to co‑develop affordable mobility solutions. GMW plans to begin production of electric four‑wheel trucks next year, likely using the same battery interface to enable swift swapping across vehicle types.
