Overview
Gazelle is a Boston, MA-based service that enables consumers to sell unwanted electronics or recycle them. It operates as a service of Second Rotation, Inc. and is led by co-founder and CEO Israel Ganot. To date, the service has been used by more than 175,000 consumers. Gazelle raised $22M in a Series D financing led by Craton Equity Partners, with participation from existing investors Physic Ventures, Venrock Associates and RockPort Capital. The company plans to use the capital to accelerate marketing to mass media and to make additional investments in operational capital, marketing, inventory acquisition and other processes. In conjunction with the funding, David Asarnow, Principal at Craton Equity Partners, joined Gazelle’s board of directors. Gazelle is a Boston-based reCommerce service that provides consumers a way to get cash for selling electronics or to recycle them. The service, operated by Second Rotation, Inc., has been used by more than 80,000 consumers to date. The company announced a $12M Series C round of investment led by Physic Ventures, with participation from existing investors Venrock Associates and RockPort Capital. The new funds will allow Gazelle to scale its business infrastructure and make additional investments in its proprietary pricing technologies and processes. Gazelle plans to work with existing retail partners—including walmart.com, Sears, Kmart, Office Depot, and Costco—to build an in-store experience that brings its reCommerce model to physical retailer sites nationwide. These initiatives are intended to expand the company’s retail integrations and operational capabilities.
