GB News intends to launch a "boldly different" 24-hour television and digital news service that favours an opinionated, US-style approach over strict impartiality. The venture is led by chairman and presenter Andrew Neil and says it will add plurality to the UK media sector. With the funding in place it will begin recruiting 140 roles, including 120 journalists, and aims to launch this year. The channel expects to reach 96% of the British TV audience via Freeview, Sky, Virgin Media, Youview and Freesat, and will also offer streaming, video-on-demand and audio services. GB News says it will be funded by advertising. Few other operational details have been released publicly to date.
