geCKo Materials’ core product is a super-strong, reusable dry adhesive modeled on gecko lizard feet that can attach and detach quickly without residue, suction, or electricity. A one-inch tile can hold up to 16 pounds and withstand roughly 120,000 attachment cycles, functioning for seconds or years and even in vacuum conditions. Since appearing as the 2024 TechCrunch Disrupt Startup Battlefield runner-up, the company has tripled its headcount and expanded its product line, unveiling four new commercial tools: a semiconductor wafer handler, a smooth-surface robotic gripper, a curved end-effector for irregular shapes, and an all-purpose robotic arm gripper. The adhesive has already been flown on six space missions and is in use by customers such as Ford, NASA, Pacific Gas & Electric, TSMC, Samsung, Intel, and Kawasaki.
