Overview

Genemod builds a dynamic cloud-based research platform that lets biopharma R&D teams house their entire lifecycle from data acquisition and project documentation to inventory management and reporting. Its interface enables users to visualize data and track progress and updates, including change history and authorship. The company has expanded over the past year into the biopharma R&D space, working with teams from startups to enterprise customers such as AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers, and Merck. Genemod is led by CEO Jacob Lee and Jin Choe. The company raised seed funding to accelerate its roadmap and go-to-market work in supporting medicine discovery, development, and market access. Genemod provides laboratory inventory management software used by research institutions around the U.S., including the University of Washington School of Medicine, UC Berkeley and the National Institutes of Health. The company says its tools increase researcher productivity by improving visibility into supplies and reducing experimental downtime. With the new funding it plans to develop a product management software to complement its existing inventory management service and roll out its product roadmap in the latter half of the year. Genemod raised capital to support a vision of collaborative data-sharing technology aimed at accelerating pharmaceutical development. Defy.vc will serve as a growth partner and Neil Sequeira of Defy.vc will join Genemod’s board to support that rollout. Founded in 2018, Genemod was part of the first Venture Out Startups pre-seed cohort.
