Retreat is a virtual reality app that immerses users in courses focused on self-improvement and overall wellness. The app highlights instructors, course backstories, and structured learning processes, with popular courses such as True Well Being, Discover Your Purpose, Therapour Mannequins, How To Write And Publish Your Story, SuperHuman, and Better Sleep. Retreat is the first VR app from development studio GeniusX and plans to launch on the MetaQuest store on December 1, 2022. The company received a $400,000 grant from Meta's Immersive Learning Fund to accompany the launch. Retreat was also named a finalist in AIXR's "Rising VR Company of the Year" category and will be represented at Immersive Tech Week and the International VR Awards in Rotterdam. GeniusX is an indie development studio based in Phoenix, AZ that operates in the virtual reality ecosystem with a concentration in VR education. Led by CEO Nick Janice, the company's first VR title, Retreat, is a virtual reality education application that creates interactive, immersive learning experiences with the world’s top experts in the Metaverse. Retreat features photorealistic backgrounds and real-life videos of educators, allowing students to choose their own virtual reality adventure through interactive learning worlds, customized group classrooms, and immersive environments. Retreat production is fully booked through 2022 with dozens of immersive courses being created spanning wellness practices (yoga, breath work, art therapy) and professional development (financial literacy, public speaking, career skills). Retreat will be free to download and offers in-app purchases for courses and other educational content, and GeniusX is actively onboarding the world’s top experts per category. The company raised $1.68M in a Seed funding round and intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach.
