GenomeUp

Viale Pasteur 6, Rome, Latium, Italy

Overview

Founded in 2017 and based in Rome, GenomeUp develops an AI-powered medical SaaS platform for genomic analysis and clinical decision support focused on rare genetic diseases. Its flagship product, JuliaOmix, enables physicians and genetic biologists to collaborate by combining patients' symptoms, treatments, phenotypes and omics data (whole genome, exome, microbiome). The platform produces AI-based clinical interpretation and reports of genomic variants to aid diagnosis and treatment planning. GenomeUp says its longer-term goal is to build a reference platform to accelerate diagnosis times, improve patient care, and deepen understanding of genetic diseases. The company has developed bioinformatics tools and protocols to make health data traceable, accessible, interoperable and reusable for researchers and clinicians. Its recent fundraising will be used to grow the team and continue platform development. GenomeUp is a Rome-based university spin-off that develops a genomic tool leveraging artificial intelligence to help doctors choose the best treatments for patients. The product analyzes a patient’s genome to generate detailed clinical reports on genes affecting pathology, the severity of new mutations, and personalized treatments by mining PubMed. The company plans to use recent funding to continue development efforts. GenomeUp recently completed the LUISS EnLabs accelerator run by LVenture Group. It has partnered with Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù and Policlinico Tor Vergata in Rome. Leadership includes CEO Simone Gardini, CTO Andrea Spinelli, and COO Andrea Cocco.
