Genomics Medicine Ireland is developing a scientific platform to examine the human genome to better understand the role of genetics in disease and rare conditions. The platform is based on the work of Amgen’s subsidiary deCODE genetics in Iceland and aims to apply population-genome study approaches to identify disease biology and drug targets. The company intends to use its recent funding to establish a genomic research and development program in Dublin. It plans to create 150 skilled jobs focused on advanced genomic research over the next three years. Led by acting CEO Daniel Crowley, GMI positions its platform to drive new prevention strategies and treatments. Financially, the company completed a $40m Series A to support these initiatives.
