GeoPoll (developed by Mobile Accord) operates a real-time mobile survey platform that conducts surveys via SMS, voice messaging and the web to reach users on feature phones and basic devices. Its platform leverages more than ten years of partnerships with telecom providers and local groups to target respondents by cell-tower location and enable two-way, real-time communication. GeoPoll's database contains more than 50 million mobile users across 20 countries and the company says it can deliver granular, iterative market intelligence by gender, age and location. Clients include the United Nations (GeoPoll gathered 130,000 votes for the MY World survey, contributing 13% of total responses), the World Food Programme (used in a large-scale nutrition survey in the DRC), and comparisons to World Bank work (GeoPoll surveyed over 100,000 people in a single day). The company also offers mGive, a mobile donation platform. Financially, GeoPoll launched with a $6.6M Series A and has raised $11.6M to date; it plans to use Series A proceeds to expand its team and footprint with goals of reaching 100 million people by the end of 2013 and 500 million by the end of 2014.
