Get.com is a product discovery service that crowdsources product recommendations and votes from its online community. At launch the site centers around Q&A — users post product questions with specific requirements (for example, “best electric toothbrush for sensitive gums under $100”) and receive community suggestions and ranked answers. The company was created by former Stickam executives Jake Gold and Steven Fruchter and is based in Santa Monica, CA. Get.com positions itself against competitors such as Bestcovery, FindTheBest.com and Top10 and aims to reduce the guesswork of online shopping. The site launched with a prominent domain name and says it will begin raising a Series A in the next few months. Financially, the startup has secured $1 million in seed funding from unnamed angel investors.
