GetGoing
San Francisco, CA, US
Overview
GetGoing operates a "Pick Two, Get One" leisure-flight marketplace that requires travelers to select two desired destinations and then randomly assigns one after purchase. The service offers flights at 20–40% off to more than 50 countries across over a dozen airlines and customers do not learn the carrier until after booking. The randomized choice is intended to demonstrate to airlines that users are leisure—not business—travelers, enabling lower fares. The company says it takes around a 5 percent cut from each transaction. GetGoing plans to add hotels and bundled hotel-flight packages in the next few months and recently exited beta, opening to all users (Facebook Connect users gained early access). San Francisco–based GetGoing has raised $5 million in funding to date from investors including Alexis Ohanian, Yuri Milner, Lightbank, TA Venture, Plug & Play Ventures, and Alireza Masrour.
