GetSet builds an NLP-driven matching engine called PeerWisdom that asks students about their goals and challenges and instantly connects them with similar peers who have overcome the same issues. The product combines algorithmic matching with a social network layer where students can create profiles and share content tied to their college. Its initial rollout is at Arizona State University covering 10,000+ freshmen, following trials with a few hundred students that showed users were 5–10% more likely to "stick around." The company plans staged school launches (roughly one school a week or every two weeks) and has another large college in Southern California about to launch. GetSet has been bootstrapped since its founding in October 2012 and sells the platform to universities on a SaaS basis so students can use it for free. The platform also supplies universities with business intelligence to surface campus-wide issues and leverages academic guidance from advisor Dr. Robert Feldman to design its questions and matching criteria.
