Overview

Ghost operates a tech-enabled B2B marketplace that enables brands and retailers to buy and sell surplus and wholesale inventory. The platform provides a digital experience to more than 6,000 members across apparel, footwear, beauty, home goods, and other categories. As a one-stop solution, Ghost connects brands with vetted buyers around the world to help them enter new channels and geographies. Ghost positions itself as a partner that helps sellers maintain brand control and integrity while developing relationships with hard-to-reach global partners. The company is led by co-CEOs Josh Kaplan and Dee Murthy. It plans to use the new funding to expand operations and advance its product development efforts. Ghost runs a members-only B2B marketplace for surplus inventory across categories such as fashion, beauty, footwear and home goods, powered by a data engine to improve discovery and conversion. Co-CEOs Josh Kaplan and Dee Murthy launched the marketplace a year ago and have since doubled the team. The company grew its membership base to over 1,000 members, increased uploaded inventory by 500%, and saw its year-over-year gross merchandise value run rate grow more than tenfold. Ghost added a Chrome extension to let buyers check product availability and request items directly while browsing consumer sites. The product roadmap emphasizes further automation and personalization, leveraging AI to create curated dashboards and optimize gross-margin composition on sales. Management plans to hire across product, engineering and design and to expand further in the U.S., as well as enter Europe and Asia. Ghost operates a marketplace that lets suppliers list SKUs, availability, volume and descriptions while buyers bid on excess inventory; owners can restrict visibility for privacy and block listings from search or specific countries. The platform automates posting, sale, shipment and enables immediate payment or uses debt relationships to purchase receivables for sellers. Founders Josh Kaplan and Dee Murthy, co‑CEOs who started Ghost in 2021, began in apparel and are expanding into beauty, home goods and other categories, including perishables. The company reached its first $1 million in gross merchandise volume in about 90 days and hit a $1 million GMV day after 180 days. Ghost has a 25‑person team and plans to use equity funding to hire across engineering and data roles; it currently has roughly 20 open positions. The founders describe a long‑term vision to be the liquidation solution for every product category.
