Glaize
Unit 1 Goodnestone Road, Wingham, Kent, CT3 1AR, England
Overview
Glaize is a 'technailogy' startup building made-to-measure gel manicure stick-ons that are partially bio-based and sized exactly to customers' nails using patent-pending technology. The product aims to deliver salon-quality durability and a faster, easier at-home application while improving sustainability compared with existing solutions. Co-founders Gina Farran and Chris Mosedale launched Glaize in March 2020 after meeting at Antler's accelerator programme; Farran moved from investment banking and sought a better at-home manicure alternative. During the pandemic the team built the product and tech remotely, raised c. £500k of funding, constructed the manufacturing process in-house, and iterated the gel formulation more than 300 times. Glaize filed a patent application toward the end of 2021 and plans to launch its first product in the UK via a direct-to-consumer website in spring, with planned collaborations and additional product drops in 2022. The company intends to continuously improve its sustainability credentials with the goal of becoming a B Corp in the near future.
