Glassbreakers
Oakland, CA, United States
Overview
Glassbreakers builds an enterprise mentorship platform and software to help companies scale diversity and inclusion efforts for women. Its product targets employers with at least 10,000 employees and combines mentorship, a content channel to highlight company thought leaders, and company-specific data analytics around diversity. The platform is designed with intersectionality in mind (for example, enabling trans women of color to connect) and currently does not serve white, cisgender men. This year Glassbreakers plans to pilot its enterprise platform with 10 companies as part of a GB10 multi-stakeholder community to learn and share D&I best practices. The company raised $1.98 million from Social Leverage, bringing total funding to about $3 million, and says the new capital will be used to further develop the platform. Social Leverage General Partner Gary Benitt said the enterprise model provides tools to measure impact in hyperrelevant ways and sees strong growth opportunities for Glassbreakers as a first-to-market enterprise D&I software. Glassbreakers started as a consumer mentorship platform for women and is moving into enterprise software after trial runs with Box and Pinterest. The company plans to officially launch an enterprise solution next year for employers with more than 10,000 employees. Its enterprise product will offer mentorship for women, a content channel to highlight company thought leaders, and company-specific data analytics around diversity, with plans to expand to all employee resource groups over time. Since launching earlier this year, Glassbreakers has grown to 12,000 people who collectively represent 90% of Fortune 100 companies and 80% of Fortune 500 companies. The startup is open to three new industries—finance, legal and nonprofits—and aims to scale enterprise sales to make the business profitable and influence C-suite gender balance. To date it has raised over $1 million from investors including Jocelyn Goldfein and Susan Kimberlin and may pursue a Series A next year.
