Overview
GliaPharm SA is an EPFL spinoff founded in 2017 that researches and develops novel therapies to treat and prevent neurological diseases using its proprietary GliaX drug discovery platform. The company’s pipeline focuses on compounds that specifically target glial cell function to promote brain energy metabolism and address hypometabolism observed in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Its lead candidate, GP-119, is an orally active small molecule designed to act on brain energy metabolism. GliaPharm is advancing GP-119 through IND/CTA-enabling preclinical studies required for FDA and EMA approval to begin clinical testing. The Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) has invested $4.2 million to accelerate those studies and help bring GP-119 to the clinical stage. The funding and ADDF’s strategic support position GliaPharm to move the program into clinical development pending successful regulatory-enabling studies.
