GDS International (GDSI) is a Singapore-based data center pioneer that develops and operates next-generation digital infrastructure for hyperscalers and large enterprises. Its cutting-edge data centers provide reliable, quickly scalable and cost-effective solutions to connect customers and support innovation. GDSI announced amendments to a Series B Convertible Preferred Shares new issue, upsizing the planned raise from $1.0 billion to $1.2 billion at the same pre-money equity valuation. The upsize was mainly committed by renowned new investors such as the SoftBank Vision Fund and Kenneth Griffin. With the addition of the Series B proceeds, GDSI expects to have sufficient equity to capitalize the development of over 1 GW of total data center capacity. The Series B new issue was initially announced on October 29, 2024 and is expected to close by the end of this year. CEO Jamie Khoo said the funding underscores the strength of GDSI’s vision and will accelerate plans to create new data center markets and deliver state-of-the-art infrastructure solutions. DigitalLand Holdings Ltd., also known as GDS International or GDSI, is the international arm of Chinese data-center operator GDS. The entity was created in 2022 and is headquartered in Singapore. It has 480 megawatts of data-center capacity in operation and under construction, and an additional 590 MW planned for development. Planned development locations include Hong Kong, Singapore and Batam in Indonesia. GDS will own roughly a 37.6% stake in DigitalLand. Bloomberg reports the company is pursuing further capital, including about $2.3 billion in loans for Malaysian operations, and is considering an IPO of the international unit as early as next year.
