Gloop

Calle Moreno Nieto 2, Madrid, 28005, Spain

Overview

Gloop produces and commercializes edible cutlery designed to substitute disposable plastic utensils. Founded in 2021 by Marta Maneja and Hernán Hernández, its products have attracted interest from the restaurant and food industry. The company plans to use new funding to advance R&D to improve organoleptic and functional properties, investigate new byproducts, and develop production technologies to lower costs and compete on price with wood. Commercial plans include placing products in more than 500 Horeca establishments and partnering with corporates for new launches. To date Gloop had been self-funded through early sales and a small grant, took part in Lanzadera in 2022, placed products in 130 Horeca outlets in 2022, and has substituted over 1.5M plastic utensils; its TikTok content exceeded 10 million views. Gloop forecasts €400k in revenue for 2023 and notes projected environmental impact metrics tied to that growth.
