Glycemicon AG is a Swiss biotech developing novel nutraceuticals for managing prediabetes, diabetes and obesity based on approaches developed at ETH Zurich. Its lead product uses a naturally occurring tetrahydroxylated bile acid (THBA) found in humans and pets. The active substance drives formation of new fat cells, producing a greater number of smaller fat cells that do not cause weight gain but improve nutrient storage. This mechanism is reported to increase insulin sensitivity and enable better control of blood sugar levels. The company is a Venturelab, TOP 100 and Venture Kick alumnus. Financially, Glycemicon has completed a Series A round totaling CHF 5.05 million.
