Glycotope Biotechnology

Czernyring 22, Heidelberg, Baden-Wurttemberg, 69115, Germany

Overview

Glycotope specializes in glycosylation of proteins and develops glycooptimized, fully human antibodies and protein therapeutics using its GlycoExpress (GEX) production technology. Its pipeline includes FSH-GEX (an improved fertility hormone), PankoMab-GEX and CetuGEX (both cancer antibodies), and TrasGEX, with PankoMab-GEX and CetuGEX in Phase IIb and TrasGEX having completed Phase I/IIa. The company plans to complete Phase IIb trials with several hundred patients in Europe and the U.S. before the end of 2016 and to start Phase III trials for FSH-GEX in summer 2014, each study involving roughly 1,000 patients per region. Management states the technology increases tolerability, effectiveness, and affordability of protein medicines. Glycotope was founded in 2001 at the Max-Delbrück-Center for Molecular Medicine and employs more than 180 people across Berlin and Heidelberg. The recent financing strengthens its ability to fund late-stage clinical development across multiple indications.
