Gobi
5406 Lake Washington Blvd Apt F, Kirkland, Washington, United States
Overview
Gobi provides a "Stories" communication tool that lets users create public and private groups for sharing photos and videos that vanish after three days. Groups can range from two people to several hundred thousand members and are often organized around interests, locations, clubs, friends, or events. The app supports interactive stickers and interactions that include up/down votes, links, embedded videos, and audio to drive engagement. Gobi launched its first version in August 2015 and has since grown to around 70,000 users. The company raised $500,000 at a $15 million valuation from several angel investors, including Petter Northug and Gustav Witzøe. Management says the investment will help execute the company’s launch strategy later this year, and CEO Kristoffer Lande and CTO Lars Erik Fagernæs emphasize community and interactivity as core product pillars.
