GoCatch

55 Pyrmont Bridge Rd L 3, Pyrmont, New South Wales, 2009, Australia

Overview

goCatch operates a taxi-booking mobile app available on iOS, Android and the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace. Founded in 2011 by Andrew Campbell and Ned Moorfield, the company has expanded into every Australian capital city. A strategic alliance with GM Cabs gave goCatch industry legitimacy and access to large taxi fare volumes. The company says it has seen significant growth, grabbing market share from incumbents such as Cabcharge. goCatch has previously received partial funding from the New South Wales Department of Trade and Investment’s Collaborative Solutions program and support from investors connected to Google, Microsoft, Nokia, PayPal and Research in Motion; it also won the $50,000 top prize at Tech23. The recent $3 million oversubscribed raise is intended to provide additional runway to grow market share, de-risk expansion into new markets and technologies, and fund engineering and team growth as it examines overseas markets in the coming 12 months.
