Gojee is an aesthetically focused recipe-sharing and aggregation site that emphasizes clean, simple design. The site has more than 500,000 registered users and was nominated for the Crunchies' Best Design Award. Cofounders Michael Lavalle and Tian He, former Morgan Stanley bankers, pivoted the company multiple times before arriving at the current Gojee product. The team emphasizes maintaining high design standards and is building the product with a major focus on mobile. Financially, Gojee has raised venture and seed capital and is using new funds to expand its engineering and design team to support mobile and product growth. Gojee curates recipes from food bloggers and presents them with large images, ingredient lists, short descriptions, and links to the full recipes on the originating blogs. Users can search by ingredient via a ‘cravings’ feature or by an ingredient they have in their pantry, and can filter results by dislikes or allergies. The site lets users star recipes to save them to favorites. Gojee is expanding its curation to include beverage recipes, covering both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. It enables searches for mixers, liquor, and other drink ingredients and will offer recipes curated for innovation and quality. The company is working with 50 bloggers, bartenders, and drink aficionados and recently raised $1.2 million in funding.
