Goji is a Boston, MA-based online home and auto insurance distribution platform that uses data to help agents match customers with carriers. Customers access an online insurance concierge that delivers personalized, real-time, value-based quotes. The platform integrates a network of more than a dozen insurance carriers to provide coverage options. Led by recently-appointed CEO Peter Breitstone and Executive Chairman Matt Coffin, the company positions agents to match the optimal coverage needs of preferred buyers. Founded in 2007 as Consumers United and rebranded as Goji in 2014, the company is a licensed insurance agency in 41 states. Financially, Goji raised $15M in funding in 2017 from HSCM Bermuda; existing investors include Thayer Street Partners, Coffin Capital & Ventures, and Five Elms Capital. Consumer United operates an online community that aggregates demand to negotiate deals on a wide range of insurance products, including personal auto, homeowners, condo, commercial auto, renters, landlord, umbrella, motorcycle, camper, travel trailer and snowmobile policies. The platform works with carriers such as Travelers, MetLife, The Hartford, Safeco, Progressive, Infinity, 21st Century, Plymouth Rock, Bunker Hill, American Strategic Insurance and Universal North America. In January 2013 the company raised $52.5M in combined equity and debt financing. That package comprised a $22.5M venture round led by Spark Capital and Thayer Street Partners and a $30M credit line provided by Thayer Street. As part of the financing Spark general partner Mo Koyfman and Thayer founder Josh Koplewicz will join the company’s board. Founded in 2006 by CEO Justin Dangel, Consumer United is based in Boston and is actively hiring.
