Founders Mike Sall and Blake West built the company to bridge capital to borrowers in the real world via decentralized finance. Goldfinch is a San Francisco–based decentralized credit protocol that enables uncollateralized crypto borrowing for individuals and businesses that lack traditional collateral. The protocol aims to build a community and network of lenders and borrowers, offering open-source tools and a newly released white paper. Since launching in December, Goldfinch’s protocol has enabled about $2.5 million in loans across seven countries, including India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria and Vietnam. The company plans to use new capital to widen awareness, ramp up hiring, and scale its underwriting and sourcing capabilities. Founders Mike Sall and CTO Blake West — who met at the University of Pennsylvania and previously worked at Coinbase — are focused on growing product, engineering and financial-services teams and fostering a strong community of lenders drawn from crypto and traditional finance.
