GoodLeaf Farms
35 Cooper Dr, Guelph, ON, N1C 0A4, Canada
Overview
GoodLeaf Farms, originally founded in 2010 as TruLeaf, operates a network of indoor vertical farms that grow pesticide-free baby greens, microgreens and custom blends for Canadian retailers and consumers. Headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, the company runs commercial farms in Alberta, Quebec and Ontario and positions itself as the country’s sole coast-to-coast vertical-farming brand. CEO Andy O’Brien reports that demand for GoodLeaf’s produce nearly doubled by April 2025, prompting plans to double the capacity of its two largest farms in 2026. The firm is also building an Agricultural Centre of Excellence in Guelph to research technologies that improve yield, efficiency and sustainability across its facilities. Capital efficiency and local production are central to the model, which McCain Foods—its largest shareholder—describes as transformative for sustainable agriculture. GoodLeaf intends to expand further into Western and Central Canada while refining new growing technologies through its forthcoming R&D centre. The company’s momentum is supported by both strategic and financial investors committed to domestic food security and sustainable farming.
