graFighters is a browser-based game that allows players to upload their own sketches and customize them for battles against other users' drawings. Players who don't have sketches can use pre-existing characters such as Michael Arrington, Bing Gordon, @Pud, Barnaby Bear, and Floppysaurus. The game is currently in private beta while co-founders Eric Cleckner and Dave Chenell iron out bugs. A demo video was created at Union Square Ventures at Fred Wilson's request. The team plans to open the game to the public in September and is offering TechCrunch readers early access if they reference TechCrunch. Financially, the company moved from a modest Kickstarter showing into a $200K funded round after a connected investor reached out.
