GramVaani, started in 2009 and based in Delhi, runs voice- and video-based local media platforms aimed at rural India. Its core products include GRINS (for community radio stations), vAutomate (a suite of voice applications) and the Mobile Vaani network. GRINS has more than 40 installations across India and Africa. The company says it serves more than 2 million users across over 15 Indian states and in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Namibia and South Africa. GramVaani will use the newly raised funds to expand the team. The platform focuses on community-driven local media and voice technologies for underserved populations.
