Overview
Grand Cru is a Helsinki-based studio founded in 2011 by six game-development veterans focused on creating touch-screen, social games with broad appeal. Its soon-to-be-released debut title, Supernauts, is a 3D creative social world-building game for iOS that lets players build, share and collaborate on unique worlds. The game is inspired by Minecraft and casual sandbox mechanics and emphasizes social play and shareability. The studio highlights proprietary in-house technology and draws on team experience from titles such as Habbo Hotel and Tiki Towers. Over the past 15 months Grand Cru has received multiple awards and recognitions, including the 2013 AWS Start-up Challenge and a finalist spot at the 2013 London Web Summit. Financially, the company has raised a total of €12.5 million (more than $16 million) to date. Grand Cru is a startup studio focused on creating cross-platform, real-time multiplayer and user-generated-content games for phones, tablets, web and social platforms. Its first title, The Supernauts, is a persistent sandbox online game where players use superpowers to complete challenges, build or destroy environments, and create their own worlds. The Supernauts is designed for true cross-platform play across Web, iOS, Android and Facebook, allowing players to pick up where they left off regardless of device. Grand Cru emphasizes collaborative gameplay and tools that let players create puzzles, games and virtual hideouts together. The studio was founded in 2011 by six Finnish game industry veterans who collectively have more than 70 years of experience and who previously worked on titles such as Habbo Hotel, Tiki Towers and the Playman Sports Series. The company recently secured seed funding to support development and launch plans for The Supernauts and future titles.
