Grand Green
Chikusa-ku, Nagoya, Aichi, Japan
Overview
Grand Green is a research and development–focused agri‑bio startup that commercializes genome‑editing platform technologies (Gene App™ and 3GE™) for use across many crops. The company has demonstrated application of its platform in more than ten crops, including tomato, and is developing new varieties in partnership with other firms. It also develops an AI prediction program to model gene expression and accelerate high‑precision simulation of genome edits. Grand Green obtained a commercial CRISPR‑Cas9 license from Pioneer Hi‑Bred (Corteva subsidiary) and the Broad Institute, enabling end‑to‑end access from R&D to commercialization. The company plans its first market introduction of a genome‑edited tomato in 2024. Proceeds from the Series C will be used to strengthen the organization and expand research and development capabilities to run more concurrent new‑variety projects with partners.
