Gravity, founded in 2009 by a team of former Myspace executives and led by co-founder and CEO Amit Kapur, builds an interest-graph recommendation platform to personalize content for publishers and users. Its technology surfaces personalized story recommendations and is integrated with publishers including CNN (CNN Money iPad app) and TechCrunch. Gravity delivers more than 25 million content recommendations each day to over 200 million users. The company monetizes through publisher integrations and is piloting a content marketing product that allows advertisers to place sponsored stories among recommendations. Gravity plans to use new funding to deploy that content marketing platform, expand operations in Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco, and continue growing its publisher network. With this round the company has strengthened its position to scale its publisher and advertising offerings.
